Twin Creeks Conservation Reserve is a 511ha freehold property that was purchased in 2003 by the Friends of the Porongurup Range in order to:
- Conserve and enhance the 400ha of remnant and regrowth bush on it,
- Aid in creating a wildlife corridor from the Porongurup Range to the Stirling Range National Park,
- Act as an open classroom for education
Funds to purchase the property were originally raised from public donations, widespread community participation in fundraising, a $200,000 grant from the National Reserve System and private unsecured loans from members.
The Reserve sits between the Stirling and Porongurup Ranges and comprises a 511ha mixture of remnant bush, revegetation and regrowth. Twin Creeks is one of the few remaining protected bush properties in this agricultural region and is part of the National Reserve System and covenanted with the National Trust of Western Australia.
The Reserve is a mixture of remnant bush, revegetation and regrowth. Varied soil types across the Reserve result in a diversity of plant communities from the Sheoak groves on granite outcrops to the flooded ironstone heath and to the lateritic Jarrah/Marri uplands.
Twin Creeks is also part of the Oyster Harbour Catchment Group/Ranges Link Project – an initiative to create a wildlife corridor between the Porongurup and Stirling Ranges.

Heartland Journeys
Gondwana Link recently produced HEARTLAND JOURNEYS ‒ an online guide to the places, people and nature of the Great Southern region.
The ‘Between the Ranges Journey’ features seven ‘Place’ listings including Twin Creeks Conservation Reserve, with stories and information about the significant flora and fauna, including birds and wildflowers to see, walks to take, and a description of the significant landcare and eco-restoration programs underway at the Reserve.
Conservation Projects
Porongurup Friends volunteers conduct on-ground activities to rehabilitate habitat by removing feral plant species and restoring native vegetation.
The habitat and populations of local flora and fauna are monitored through the Citizen Science program.
Bird surveys are conducted with assistance from BirdLife Australia, CCWA and volunteers. Observations are added to the information collected across participating regional nature reserves in the Gondwana Link.
Flora and fauna observations can be added to the Twin Creeks iNaturalist Project.
Visitors

The reserve is open to the public for flora walks, birdwatching and photo opportunities. Take a walk along the trails and enjoy a picnic at the BBQ area.

We hope you enjoy your visit to Twin Creeks as much as we enjoy being caretakers of this boodja.
